Initial Programs is a new project by respected ambient producer Mick Chillage. It is also Mick’s first ever vinyl release and sees the Irish artist focus on deep, acid-tinged techno and melodic electro.

The background to the release is a simple one; First Cut boss Richard Be was a long admirer of Mick’s music and discovered an electro project he did as The Shape. Over the course of emails, pints and coffees, the music for Initial Programs’ first record came together. The resulting three tracks are melancholic, late night jams, the soundtrack to high speed cruises on the streets of south Dublin.

    Selected DJ Feedback:

    Delta Funktionen (Radio Matrix)
“Sounds ace! When is the vinyl out?”
    Laurent Garnier (F Comm)
    “Really cool acid/electro tracks.... Niiiiiiice!”
    Sunil Sharpe (Earwiggle)
“A really nice few tracks here, very musical and sharply produced. 'City Speaks' is the standout for me. Reminds me ever so slightly of Plaid actually, but only a touch. Definitely in a positive way anyway! Great job.”
    John Heckle (Tabernacle)
“This is great, old school & atmospheric IDM techno, right up my street. Thanks mate, will definitely be playing these.”
    Nick Craddock (Uzuri)
“These are great, thanks for sending them. Simple enough, structurally, but what sets them apart is that great grasp of dark melody. Definitely something I would play, and I fully intend to.”
    Dan Curtin (Metamorphic)
“First second of first kick drum I immediately thought of Adrenelin M.o.D "Ecstasy" and that feeling kind of continues through this entire EP. But of course this is something totally different, layered and rich, an acidic symphony that is kind of like story telling when you listen to all of the tracks together. Thoroughly into this.”
    DJ TLR (Creme Organization)
“Oh this is very nice thanks.”
    Heinrich Dressel (Minimal Rome)
“Just listened to the release and I must say it's very solid! Thanks for sharing. My fave is "City Speak”.
    Rivet (Kess Kill)
“Nice one, reminds me of early B12/The Black Dog. B2 deffo the one for me.”
    Dj Glow (Trust)
“Really nice dreamy, yet snappy jams! will definitely play this on my next FM4 show.”
